Obamacare???

Dr. Price, a well informed health care analyst as well as former surgeon, is an optimist to Obama’s new healthcare plan. He does not believe it is beneficial to our specific wants and needs compared to the wants and needs as a whole(the United States)

Dr. Price states the new Obama healthcare plan does not allow the people to make health care decisions but rather the government makes the healthcare decisions. He also states that we, the American citizens, buy healthcare for specific reasons ranging from access, affordability to quality all of these in which government intervention does not happen with. In doing so it would take away the purpose of why we choice certain healthcare providers over others.

Dr. Price implies the government should intervene solely by supplying the American citizens with funds in order for us to choose our own health insurance. He suggest the government should do this by using the tax system, possibly less tax expenses or greater refunds.

I am not completely aware of Obamas health care plan. The only knowledge I have on Obamas healthcare plan is from Dr. Price’s statements. From what I’m currently aware of, I believe the American people should be able to choose our own healthcare providers/plans. Everyone has different needs, for example me, having Scott and White four years ago would not have done me much good when I had to be rushed to the emergency room… seeing the closet one was in Temple and going to a different hospital could possibly not cover me. So I can understand how location and cost play a huge roll in choosing a specific provider.

I think the article should have distributed more information in detail of President Obamas healthcare plan, so we could better critique his idea compared to Dr. Prices’. If I had to choose a side I would go with Dr. Prices idea… the government can aid us with money but we should make the ultimate choice of which healthcare provider to choose.

make it rain bills... NOT

So... President Obama stated on Friday that he plans on "giving" Pakistan 1.5 BILLION dollars per year, for the next five years! He implies it is for Pakistan to build better roads, schools and to build a wall separating Pakistan from Afghanistan. WOW, Where do I even start...? We, the citizens of the United States have our own financial issues regarding education. We have slums and ghettos with a horrible education systems. That 1.5 billion could go a loooonng way in positively influencing our education system. In the long run it could even boost our financial issues, with more citizens receiving a higher education. There are many roads here in America that are falling apart. I'm sure everyone heard of the bridge that collapsed during rush hour, over the Mississippi river during August of 2007. Moving on... a wall to separate Pakistan and Afghanistan? I'm in no shape or form racist, but c'mon now... a river is not stopping Mexicans from entering the United States so what makes President Obama believe a wall will stop Afghanistan's from entering Pakistan. All in all I think giving away 1.5 billion dollars per year, for five years to Pakistan is money horrible spent. We can do better!!

WOOHOO august 2010

What I’ve been waiting to hear for two years now, has finally been said! Obama stated, “"And so I want to be very clear: We sent our troops to Iraq to do away with Saddam Hussein's regime — and you got the job done," the president said. "We kept our troops in Iraq to help establish a sovereign government — and you got the job done. And we will leave the Iraqi people with a hard-earned opportunity to live a better life — that is your achievement; that is the prospect that you have made possible." Obama could have not stated that(in my opinion) more perfectly! Our troops have done so much for our country in Iraq and for them to have help establish a sovereign government what else could we leave them there for? If Iraq wants to destroy their own country then let them! There is only so much one can do to help, the rest is up to you… or in this case the rest is up to them, to better themselves. Obama also stated he would be leaving approximately 50,000 troops in Iraq to retain order. Although that may sound like a good plan, I disagree. If Iraq decides to conduct a terror attack on the U.S. how are the troops in Iraq going to stop that? Our soldiers walking down there streets to make sure there is “order” won’t protect us in the states any greater then them being here. What our troops have done for our country is more then we could have asked for!

“From Civil War to Iraq”

The video I found on the CNN website, first caught my attention from the initial picture placed on the video. It was half of President Obama’s face and half of President Lincon’s face. If you are not very interested in politics and have a short attention span, then I would suggest watching this video considering it is only about two and half minutes long. It discusses the similarities in the way President Obama and President Lincon address the issues dealing with war. During the time President Lincon served our country 600,000 men were killed in the 2 battles of Bull Run. That came out to be about 2 percent of the whole population during that time. In our current almost 6 year war with Iraq 4,000 men have been killed. Two percent of our population today would be around 5million. There for it shows how strong and advanced our army is today compared to during the rain of President Lincon. Regardless I’m still completely 110 percent TOTALLY against war!

My Background with the Government

Honestly I'm not very involved with our government nor have I ever been. In fact I have very little knowledge on our government. I'm aware of the "major" or what I consider "major" things... such as who is the president and the fact that we have SEVERAL men/women in Iraq/Afganistan. Which I TOTALLY do not agree with. Well... I am taking this class because it is a requirement for my degree. I hope to gain A LOT more knowledge about our government in this class as well as obtain at least a B! After completing the political ideology I'm considered a "Disadvantaged Democrat". I don't completely agree with that. Democrat, yeah ok... but I'm not "poor" as it was insinuating. I just want what's best for those who are less fortunate and I'm obviously totally against war. So I believe the questions they asked led to a false analysis on who I am.
